So, after Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has finalized support staff for the men in green, here is a look at pros and cons of having Waqar Younis in Pakistan’s dressing room again.
So, Who Should Be Worried
Waqar Younis has a history of a poor working relationship with Sarfraz Ahmed. Hence, he shouldn’t be too happy for sure.
Waqar has time and again asked some of the senior players to call it a day. Moreover, guys like Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal who are looking to force their way back in to the national side and who like Sarfraz have had differences with the former captain too wouldn’t be too happy with the comeback of Younis in Pakistan’s Dressing Room.
Who Should Be Happy Then
Waqar is known to select fast bowlers with good pace on priority basis. Hence, this is most definitely good news for Mohd. Hasnain who as of now is not even part of the training camp.
Similarly, Wahab Riaz should be glad with Waqar’s return as he is apparently one his favorite boys. Also happy then should be Shaheen Afridi whom Waqar seems to be impressed with and who is likely to learn a lot from the legendary fast bowler.
Finally, Do The Pros Out Weigh The Cons
Well, yes if Waqar somehow manages to mind his own business and decides to not interfering in team matters that are not related to bowling. On the other hand, trouble is almost certain to happen once and if Waqar enters Misbah-ul-Haq’s domain and tries to interact with senior cricketers like Sarfraz Ahmed, Mohd. Hafeez, Shoaib malik, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq etc.
